IT’S OFFICIAL: As of two weeks ago, all three offices have cleared me and I will be heading to Japan as a full-time missionary come June 27th. Thank you all for your prayers and support.
As for my assignment. I will be in the northern most prefecture of the main island of Japan, Honshu. I will be in Aomori City, Aomori Prefecture. It is the #1 snowiest cities in the world as you will see from the pictures. I will placed at Aomori Gospel Christ Church and will be finding an apartment near by there once I am settled in. The church was started in the 1950’s and at one time had 70 people. The numbers have dropped and the congregation has aged. However they have a energetic pastor and want to do outreach. He has asked for help. The idea is to assist in whatever ways they need help. Currently the thought is English classes and assistance with youth. The missionaries and Japanese churches in Aomori operate more like a family so there is the high possibility of serving multiple churches in their attempt to worship Jesus and proclaim the good news. There are 1.4 million people in Aomori and even though there is are a number of churches, most congregations are small and aging and discouraged. There is a huge need for someone who is willing to serve, be optimistic, be excited about Jesus and what He is doing and going to do. It is OMF’s prayer that by my coming, they will see a new breathe of life into not just one church but many.
Below are some pictures and a newsletter is forthcoming.
Thank you again for your prayers and support!
